Thomas D. McGann received a B.S. in Finance and a B.A. in English from the University of Maryland in College Park and he received a M.A. in Liberal Studies from SUNY (State University of New York) at Stony Brook, Long Island.

He has taught in the public school systems of Fairfax County, Virginia; Montgomery County and Prince Georges counties in Maryland; and in the boroughs of Queens and the Bronx of New York City.  He has taught youngsters in elementary, junior, and senior high schools, as well as adults in night classes.  He has taught mainly English and history.

He entered the educational field through the back door, so to speak.  After he wrote The Red Well-Read Reader, which is comprised of 361 rhyming stories, he returned to school and obtained his teaching credentials from the College of Notre Dame in Baltimore.  After teaching, he created numerous complementary products to TRWRR, http://www.scribd.com/doc/68112945/The-Red-Well-Read-Reader, resulting in a literacy program for children of all ages, from 5 to 105, designed to make them astute readers and independent thinkers. http://2B Totally Literate.org.
